What makes the difference
Care that goes deeper than the case
The difference between a service that lasts and one that doesn't often comes down to small decisions — about time, about communication, and about whether the person doing the work actually cares about the outcome.
← Back to HomeSix things that shape every job
Not policies on a wall — just the way the workshop runs.
Straight answers from the start
The Quick Care Check ends with a clear note on what, if anything, your watch actually needs. No upselling toward a service that isn't warranted.
Testing that takes real time
Every movement is timed across several days and multiple positions. A rushed timing check misses rate drift that only shows up over 48 or 72 hours.
A written record every time
Condition reports document what was found, what was done, and anything worth monitoring. Useful now, and useful in five years when you consider the next service.
You decide what gets replaced
Components are discussed before they are ordered. You know the reason, the source, and the cost — and the work does not proceed until you agree.
Ultrasonic cleaning as standard
Parts are cleaned before fresh lubricant is applied — not cleaned over old oil. This matters because residual contamination shortens the life of new lubricant.
Convenient Pattaya drop-off
Beach Road location, open six days a week. Walk in to drop off, ask questions, and collect in person without shipping risk or extended wait times.
Fifteen years with mechanical movements
Sakda Wattanaphon began servicing mechanical watches in 2009 after years of jewellery repair work. The crossover built an understanding of both the movement side and the casing and finishing side that most workshops approach separately.
This matters when restoration work reaches the point where movement decisions and case decisions start to interact — timing a movement correctly before closing the case, for example, or understanding how a refinishing approach will affect the crown seal.
- 15+ years of mechanical movement service
- Experience with vintage and modern calibres
- Jewellery and metalwork background for case work
- Thai and Japanese mechanical watch familiarity
- Knowledgeable on common failure points by calibre
- Dedicated ultrasonic cleaning bath for parts
- Precision timing machine for movement measurement
- Specialist watchmaker lubricants by movement type
- Multi-position timing across 5+ positions
- Case polishing and satin-finishing tools
The right tools, used properly
Good tools matter, but the way they are used matters more. An ultrasonic cleaner run with the wrong solution or at the wrong temperature does more harm than good. A timing machine gives useful data only if the tester understands what they are reading and how to respond to it.
We use the equipment we have because it produces better outcomes — not because it looks impressive on a price list. If a tool is not going to improve the result, it does not come out.
You are kept in the picture
People who hand over a watch they value want to know it is in safe hands and that they will be heard if something unexpected comes up. We contact you before anything significant changes about the scope of the work, not after.
For restoration work in particular, the owner's input shapes the outcome. Some watches should look like they've been worn for decades. Others should be brought back closer to how they left the factory. That is a conversation we have before we start, not a decision we make on your behalf.
- Reply to enquiries within one working day
- Consultation before any component is replaced
- Written condition report at every service
- Follow-up support after collection
- Speak directly with the person doing the work
- Clear, stated prices — no surprise additions
- Quick Care Check at ฿2,490 before bigger decisions
- Parts cost disclosed before ordering
- No service recommended if genuinely not needed
- Condition report included in every service price
Transparent from the first conversation
Service prices are stated clearly and cover the work described. If something during the job changes what is needed, we talk before we proceed. The price at collection is not higher than the price discussed, unless we have had that conversation with you first.
For those who are uncertain whether a service is warranted at all, the Quick Care Check is designed to answer that question affordably before any larger commitment.
How Sakda Kala compares
A straightforward look at approaches that differ between careful independent workshops and higher-volume options.
| Aspect | Sakda Kala | Typical high-volume service |
|---|---|---|
| Timing test duration | Multi-day across positions | Often same-day single reading |
| Part replacement approval | Owner consulted first | Often done without discussion |
| Condition report provided | Written, every service | Verbal only, or not at all |
| Parts cleaning method | Ultrasonic bath before lubrication | Manual clean or skipped |
| Initial honest assessment | Service only if needed | Service often recommended anyway |
| Post-service follow-up | Available, no extra charge | Usually requires a new job |
What sets us apart
A few things that are harder to find than they should be.
The "what to expect" conversation
Before we start any job, we outline realistic timelines and outcomes honestly. A movement that has been stored for years needs more careful assessment than one worn daily. We tell you that upfront, not after the bill is ready.
Small team, direct contact
The person who takes your enquiry and the person who opens your movement are connected. Questions about your specific watch get answers from someone who knows its current condition, not a general-purpose reply.
Pattaya local — no shipping risk
For residents and long-term visitors, having a careful workshop nearby means avoiding the risk of shipping a valuable piece. Drop off in person, collect in person, and talk to us between if anything comes to mind.
The Quick Care Check option
Not every watch that arrives at a workshop needs a service. The Quick Care Check exists specifically for owners who would rather know where things stand before committing to a full cleaning or restoration.
